I have the K&M catalog and several of their stands look very interesting, with nice carrying bags. They make so many, I can't figure out from your description which one you're talking about. If it's a wire stand with a very sturdy column and tripod it could be 10041 (2-section column)or 10065 (3-section column), which both look like tubular legs on the tripod base, or 107 (3-section column)which has a tripod base that looks like a drum stand, flat metal legs with the feet bent downward.
Let me know which is the one you like...I want to order one.
