If the new teacher had, in any way, been involved in the dismissal of the previous teacher (For example, Dr. X wants to teach here, so lets push Mr. Y out the door and make it happen) I could understand that attitude. In this case however, the new teacher has done nothing wrong. The blame, in this case should fall on the administration (and possibly, to a certain extent, on the previous teacher). If the students can't deal with this, they should attend school elsewhere.
