I have an early silver 45slp which I use in my brass quintet and occasionally in the symphony.
My main slide is never out more than 1/2 inch. I have noticed the newer ones have a slightly different tuning slide. I use a smallish PT 65 on it.
I played a newer one recently which played considerably different than mine. I am an avid Meinl Weston advocate ( I own two ), but they do seem to differ considerably from one to the next.
