Agreed. 14K model has long #1 and #3 slides AS DOES THE 20K. This is to "compromise" (as opposed to "compensate") for the 1-3 and 1-2-3 pitches.
Unlike the 20K's third partial, the 14K's third partial is in tune (high) enough to use in a concert band setting...The sound is 14K sound is quite large and a bit cleaner than the 20K sound as well.
