Just tried a few last week- I noticed a standard shank PT 44 was too skinny or too long. It was bumping the leadpipe where it met the receiver. Lately I've been using a Monette 97, it worked very well on the 20. That piece has such a short stem that it didn't hit the leadpipe. If you are traveling to Custom Music they certainly must have a bunch of mouthpieces to try along with the horn.
Keep experimenting, there are scores of mouthpieces out there and you'll soon find what doesn't feel good or doesn't work well for you. You can then stay away from that style of mouthpiece(funnel shaped, bowl shaped, sharp rim, round rim, big rim, small rim- you see where I'm going with this) I've found that I don't like sharp rims(or excessively round rims) large or extremely funnel shaped cups. But that's me, not you. Good luck with your quest.
