Large BBb helicons from Central European makers are not especially rare on the open market for used instruments, so it has not been especially hard to have diverse variants represented in my gallery.

The one hopefully popping up is a Lidl of Brno, the main city of Moravia. The arrangement of the tubing placed in front of the player's body has some similarity to an Odessa made Russian Herculesophone. The Central European makers like Cerveny had a huge market in pre-revolution Russia.

Of course I am fascinated by these monsters. Several years before I had the chance to start on brass, I on holidays had the chance to play more with than on a large helicon stored with other brasses in an attic of a family members house. Must have been a terror for the surroundings to listen to, but I found it great fun, even if I by then had no idea of being into brasses, as I have been for much of my life.

10 more pics of the Lidl can be found via the link given below here. Together with 20 or so other recent uploaded instruments. Among them an oval Hirsbrunner Bariton 4RV.

There also are two Keefer baritones, which clearly have been inspired by the French way of wrapping their Saxhorns basses.
