The new model 289 is indeed an improved version of the 189 Kaiser model instrument. The major change that they have made is that it is now on a more compact style frame. The bell section and the large tubing leading to the bell is more like the 191, but it has the angled valve section of the 189. I haven't spent a lot of time with this instrument but reports I've heard say that it is quite a bit better than the 189.
We should have some in stock in the not too distant future.
