Kelly Mouthpiece update

I recently tried the trumpet and trombone/euph Kelly mouthpieces. They are interesting. Kind of an anti-mass mouthpiece, but with a legitimate sound. It felt a little funny for me, playing in the high register of the euphonium. I think it was because the plastic sticks to the mouth better than metal. I think the metal must allow for more sliding around of the lips. Nothing which couldn't be acclimated to with some practice. To test for durability, I gave each student in each of my three kindergarden classes chances to throw them against the wall and they didn't break. I thought that this would be a good test. I am sure they will break when hit with a hammer, but who in their right mind is going around hitting their mouthpieces with hammers?
