Keith,
I bought a 582S about a year ago to work as a part time tuba. I primarily play bass trombone and euphonium, but needed an affordable tuba. The horn I got was a great package, and I dont think you can get a silver plate, 4/4, 4 piston BBb for less than I paid. The horn will not get you a job in a major orchestra, but for the enthusiast looking for a QUALITY affordable horn, its great. It puts out a good volume of sound, intonation is relatively good, the horn speaks well in high and low range. All and all, I highly recommend the horn, and its been a real pleasure to own. I looked at other options such as the Mira 186, 191, MW 25, VMI 3301 and Yamaha 321, 621, 641, and all were much more $$$ and not that much better.

my two cents.....
