I owned a very good 2900 for about 3 years and I have play-tested the 2950 several times. I personally like the 2950 slightly better for a few reasons. Number one, I like a bigger horn/mouthpiece combination, which is why I really like the Prestige 2052's so much as well as the Yamaha that I am currently on right now with my 'baby', my SM3. The 2900 DOES center BETTER and EASIER than the 2950, HOWEVER, projection and depth of sound, not just quality, is important to me. The 2950 gave me a much more powerful sound easier. In the hands of a great player, they both will sound great. If you can control your sound in the softer dynamics, any horn will do for you. It's what is easier for you to play and what is more comfortable for your style of playing. I also found that, for me, there were MUCH less intonation problems with the 2950 than with the 2900. To each his/her own. Play-test them EXTENSIVELY, and decide which of the two you would prefer to deal with.
