I found that the horns held up rather well in my last high school band position. I had 2 of them in my high school group, and the ease of sound production in the low range made them valuable in the ensemble.
The open wraps are somewhat exposed to damage if they are mishandled. I was fortunate to have responsible students and used DEG tuba rests. The bottom bows did dent easier than the 20J/321/5J that we had.
I had older cases (96 and 95 models). The wheels did come off easier than I expected. Maybe the cases are better now.
