The University of Texas and University of North Texas are good places to be for undergrads. There are plenty of places around the triangle (Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Waco, and Austin) to play. The teachers are really good. The tuba players in the area generally are a little weak, with some obvious exceptions. There are a few good players around, but there are plenty of pretenders that need a hot shot to come and give them a kick in the butt. If you're good, come on down to Texas.
