My mother is a diabetic, and she says that tingling sensations are often signs of nerve damage in diabetics. I am not suggesting you have diabetes, but be careful with your face, as you're 90% of the sound of the instrument you play. A tingling sensation could be a warning sign.

I don't know what mouthpiece you are now using, but you might try using one with a very rounded rim. I knew a guy who switched to a rounded rim because of nerve damage he attributed to over use and a flat, sharp rimmed mouthpiece. Now, whenever I practice, I switch out my mouthpieces every so often. (Perhaps it is preventative medicine).
