Recently bought a Sharp MD with a Audio Technica 822 mic--MD from minidisco.com, and the mic from Full Compass, a mail-order firm in Madison, WI.

The MD is set-levels-on-the-fly, fairly easy to comprehend, and gives great results. I have others who have the exact same set-up. The Japanese model came with those funky-two-round-plug adapters, but the company provided a regular US 120v adapter prong. Also, the MD came with an onboard rechargable battery, a AA clip-on batterypack for extended use, and a wall plug.

The Audio Technica mic has been recommended by others on this list and by colleagues of mine for overall great use, plus it includes a mini-plug jack for microphone-in that is way-useful. Total cost--Sharp ran about $200, Mic around $250, but WELL WORTH THE EXTRA BUCKS FOR A GOOD MIC.

Helpful?
