I forgot to add - I use a K & M tuba playing stand/rest. I see very little difference in balancing the horn with either bell. It is very stable for me. I do see a difference when hossing from where I unpacked it and assembled it, to my chair. The bell front is actually easier to carry because the bell flare is out in front, out of the way. The 24" flare is right in the way when lifting the upright. You need to hold it away from your body more so you don't bash your chin when you lift it up to carry or place on the stand.

In either case, when you go to move thru a doorway, it tends to move the bystanders out of your way.
