my recording bass that I played in high school was a popular target for trash-tossers at basketball games and the like. Compared to the bell-up 6/4 tuba I play now, that was all the recording bass was good for, and honestly, I'd choose to not play at all than to go back to using one (even though the typical audience today is somewhat more mature than the high school basketball crowd was)
