The 2145 is an undeniably great horn. I was very happy with one for many years. In a perfect world (always the hitch...) I would have kept the 2145, added an F, as I did, and a larger CC as well. The 2145 can do anything you want, and is prime in the middle-of-the-road requirements of a horn such as section tubist, much of the quintet repertoire, brass ensemble, CC solo repertoire, and all but the most dynamically demanding orchestral literature.

If you need an all around horn the 2145 would do perfectly, but if you find that you are doing most of your playing in one of the extreme styles of playing (large orchestra - solo lit.) you may be better served with a horn more suited for each purpose. But, to sum up, if you could afford it, grab a 2145 around, and always have it handy. I'm missing mine a little already, even though my present horn is great.
