In August of 2001 when I bought an F Schmidt 2103 BBb tuba from TubaStore (Brooks Mays) it was quite evident that it was the same as the VMI 2103 except it came with a slightly longer tuning slide. If you look at the F Schmidt/VMI 2103 (as well as the similar PT1) you will notice that the slide extends vertically at the bottom.
On TubaStore website the picture of the F Schmidt 2103 now shows the tuning slide extending horizonally, like the Miraphone 186 does.
Has VMI changed the design of the 2103?
