It is one of the added joys of being a tuba player, playing the instrument that is, most likely, the most interesting, and, yes, esthetically pleasing, visually speaking. On many occasions I�ve had someone tell me that they just like to look at my horn. (As an aside it should be noted that Salvidor Dali used tubas in a number of his paintings.)
As I have noted recently, I just acquired a Gronitz PCM in silver, which, I believe, is an absolutely handsome instrument. The proportions and design simply invite one to gaze at it.
Yes, I�m sure that, when selecting a horn, we are influenced, at some level, by the appearance of the instrument; fortunately tubas, in general, are just cool looking!
