I have a Mirafone 1290 - the precursor to your 1295 - and when I first started playing it I was using a PT-88 MP. I loved the sound that I heard but the "sound in the hall" wasn't what it should have been (according to several tubists and other brass players). I then tried a Marcinkiewicz N2 MP (recommended by Alan Baer) and the sound to my ear seemed a little grainy but to the guys listening "it sounds the way a big tuba should sound!"
It's also taken a bite of time and practice to get used to filling up a "larger tuba" after playing only F tuba for the last 17 years.
