I know Joe, was just hoping to hear from Phil a bit of "the history" of this particular "cut-job" -- where it came from, who did the work, and when.

f.w.i.w. (gentle readers) in my mind a horn like this is really more a custom tuba rather than a "customized" or even "modified" tuba - as so much of it is replaced in the process of changing out the valveset and valve branches, usually the leadpipe, installing new braces, and cutting the bows/bottom arch/bell. It (dare I say) is almost a misnomer to call such an instrument by the name engraved originally on the bell, but for lack of a better way to do it custom horns usually wind up being called by that engraving.
