Actually, the Mirafone 188 is one of the most popular tubas ever. There is probably no tuba that is a better value for the money. It is the horn of choice for many professionals and can be heard on countless movie soundtracks, thanks to Tommy Johnson.
Any problems with the tone on this tuba are most likely related to the player, not the tuba.
