I did not offer a comparison which could be criticized, I asked a question.

Your answer was that a tuba should have a bell throat of 8" and a 1" diameter. That summarizes my question.

Based on this answer, the theory proposed above (doubling the size of the bell) falls apart somewhere. Also, it is likely that there are other factors (that have not been stated in this thread) which I would like to hear.

I also notice that when I compare successful instruments like the Bach Model 180 ML trumpet and the Bach 42B trombone, the formula of doubling sizes doesn't work.

I am not a trained scientist, I have a methodical approach to discovery and I am curious.

I want to know if this theory of doubling the size of the bell is accurate and why it works (or doesn't work).
