I recently picked up a DEG tuba rest. It has an adjusting knob on the column clamp to control the friction for height, appears different than description in other post. I like how it works, easily adjustable, plenty of heighth for any chair I will use outside of a bar stool. Also got a MW harness, works very well on VMI 3301, not on Holton BAT. The Holton harness points are just not configured to hold with this harness when standing. My preference is definitely to not use a harness when sitting, need more flexibility to hold the horn. The tuba rest also keeps me from scratching the new dining room chairs with the bottom bow. Try out several to see what you like.
