Most 20J players rest the horn on their chair and control the position of the horn with their legs. The hand usually rests on the body of the horn just below the mouthpipe and helps balance the instrumen. Once you find the balance point of the horn, it's easy to handle. I think that using a stand actually makes these horns harder to handle.

If you have one of the rare 20Js that doesn't have a really flat open F or D, count yourself lucky. Pulling slides on these horn is next to impossible, so a strong lip is a must.

Does your horn have an exceptionally resonant note that sticks out from the rest? Most 20Js do.
