Satin Silver is different than you may be thinking...it is actually an etched finish.
How I see the difference between old and new satin silver:
1. The difference between old and new satin silver is that the old satin silver finish looks like the horn was plated, then they added sand to it and put more silver on top of it. The new finish seems more "sandblasted" like to me.
2. The old finish seems to "pop out" while the new finish looks like it's eating away at the brass.
