Are you looking for a mute for section playing or solo playing? If it's for section playing, you need to get a fully metal mute - such as the Humes & Berg Aluminum mute. This type will produce the best blend with the trombone section. If it's for solo playing, a lot of people prefer the wood mutes - such as the Trumcor mute. Because I can only afford one mute at this time, I bought the metal mute because I use the mute more for section playing than otherwise.
