I saw the NDR orchestra in a televised performance of Bruckner 8 a few years back while in Austria. Maestro Wand was quite incredible: able to conduct an entire Bruckner symphony, but then had to be helped off stage. I'm sorry to hear that he died... looked like a gentle person. I also noticed that NDR put out a Pictures recording under Wand in 2000. It's an excellent orchestra that doesn't seem to get the attention that Vienna or Berlin get.
