If I had a beautiful 56J, I'd be very proud too, but I wouldn't tie the ownership of a 56J in with the legacy of Harvey Phillips.

Your 56J, though named "Conn" is in reality a cutdown "King Symphony Bass" design, with little if nothing to do with any (quasi-Elkhart) Conn manufacturing ancestry.

Mr. Phillips' tuba bears some very general similarities to the Conn "single digit"-J tubas mentioned by others, but actually his PERSONAL Conn tuba is quite old and quite different from even 1950's, '60's, and '70's "true" Conn tubas.

Joe 'I'm pretty sure that I'd rather have a 56K "King-Conn" tuba than Harvey Phillips' personal "real" Conn tuba' S.
