I respect players, but not their observations about mouthpieces.
I personally believe that the idea that a mouthpiece change will significantly move the partials of a 16 foot long - to - 30 foot long instrument is humbug.
Perhaps some types of mouthpieces allow certain types of players to schmooze the pitch on out-of-tune notes more easily, but I really don't believe that mouthpieces "fix" out-of-tune partials on tubas.
