I was going through mono exactly 10 years ago. Luckily, it occurred after all my gigs were done for the year. For 3 weeks I had no desire to do anything, playing/practicing included. I returned to work after 6 weeks, only to resume medical leave after 3 weeks back on the job. About 4 months after it all started, I was able to resume my full time work and horn playing activities.
The moral being, as mentioned previously, give yourself some time to let your body recover. Be good to yourself, and if possible, sub out your gigs for the time being.
