6-valves, German Silver finish. Made sometime prior to WW2, this tuba
was originally a "Viennese system" tuba and was converted to standard
system in the late 50's to early 60's. 14 1/2" bell, my scale says it
weighs (even with the German-silver plating)14 - 15 pounds (my '75
brass Alex with only 5 valves weighs three pounds more!) Large
Alexander mouthpipe/receiver, 19mm bore, Valves 1-4 are "normal", valve
5 is a sharp whole step and valve 6 is either a flat 1/2 or (with
extentions & tuning slide) a flat whole step. This way it can set up to
have a LOT of possibilities, a really sweet-sounding "old-school"
Alexander. I was thinking about asking 4500, am open to offers,
questions off-line by e-mail pls.
