Interesting that this subject appears again just as I've finished my two month experiment..... two months ago I consciously washed my face with only facial soap, including my beard and full moustache. I felt that over the course of the month, the facial hair became dry and brittle and it felt "scratchy" under my mouthpiece. It seemed that I was readjusting the mouthpiece position quite a lot. Last month, I began washing with the same facial soap, rinsing and then using shampoo on the beard and moustache. Almost immediately the facial hair felt softer, and less scratchy. I don't feel like I'm adjusting the mouthpiece at all. I suppose a conditioner would yield even better results but my hair has never been too dry. My advice for your ablutions: make sure to shampoo your facial hair !
