I have been playing in orchestras and bands with my 5/4 Cerveny for about eight years now. I tried Wilsons, Rudy Meinls, Miraphones, and Meinl Westons. None of these makes compare to the great sound I get from my Cerveny. Then again, I probably have formed my sound into the instrument, and therefor can't produce the same sound on another instrument.
As far as intonation goes... its nothing you could'nt fix as you learn the instruments' tendencies. In my opinion, intonation is more than half the players responsability, and then, possibly, one can blame the rest on the instrument.
