These studies are pretty much confined to Mozart's music (or at least music from the Classical period).

...So unless we're being musical thieves playing Mozart transcriptions, or (better still)turfing out the Orch Excerpt CDs from the player and re-filling the CD stacker with Wolfgang Amadaeus, well, the chances of increased cognition are slim!!

And then, probably negated in equal parts by the loss of brain cells due to (tuba player stereotype follows) beer consumption.

I agree with other parts of this thread that have theorised that the propensity for higher intelligence is more likely to have already been there, and to have caused one to gravitate towards Klassical in preference to KORN.

BTW: I watched a documentary recently about the Theremin* (and its inventor... named... Theremin!). Mr Theremin once presented his invention to Einstein for his approval/interest, etc. When the very aged Mr Theremin related this story he mused that Einstein did not have much of an ear at all for music. (Just reinforces the many different types of intelligences it is possible to be strong or weak in)!!

* The first "electronic' instrument... most famously used in B grade horror movies, and the Beach Boys' hit "Good Vibrations".
