Hi Graham! I would not recomend the Getzen or an Amati/Cerveny. The Getzen is a nice little horn, but a little over priced. You can find better for less. The Amati/Cerveny line is cheap but its cost refects it quality. If you really want to get a good tuba expect to spend AT LEAST $5,500-$6,000. I seriously recommend the Meinl-Weston 2145. One of the best horns out there for a great price (1,000 in change less than the Getzen). You can try one of the new Conns as well! I would say Kalison too but they are not for everybody. Not too expensive though now days. If you are not an Aspiring professional and are really on a budget try the Amati CC.
