Actually, I think it might be the opposite of what you suggest. The FPO's Assistant Conductor, Edwin Outwater, has just been awarded the assistant job with the San Francisco Symphony. My understanding is that he starts the new position next season. Tomorrow morning, the FPO starts auditioning candidates for the position Edwin is leaving but since there wasn't time to post a formal audition, these candidates are just auditioning for a one year position at first and are all mostly locals.
Actually, the FPO is also looking for a Music Director. Our current MD, James Judd, has announced his resignation, effective the 2003-2004 season. Anybody know any good conductors???
