I have worked with Tim Northcut for a bit, and I find him to be a highly effective teacher.
He was the clinician at a workshop held at my school, and I learned tons from him, as I did at RMBI. Just because someone has differing opinions on how to explain teaching philosophies, explanations for techniques, etc. does not make that person less of a musician or teacher. Also, look at the success of Mr. Northcut's students... I doubt there would be so many successful players coming from his studio if he truly were not a top-notch teacher.
