Everyone else has some good comments on this. I just wanted to add that $3500 is probably a little low for this. Dillons has one for sale for $4500, and it doesn't say whether it has a bag or a case. Of course it may take quite a while to sell, so if you need to sell quickly the price has to be reduced.

If you sell this horn for a $2000 loss, you have basically paid $400 per year for the use of the tuba. I'm assuming that you used it during this time and it performed the way you expected. $400 per year doesn't sound that bad. What else do you buy that you expect to sell for the same price after 5 years? OK, you probably paid too much when you bought it and if you had bought it somewhere else for less, or bought a different horn you wouldn't have spent as much over this time, but what's done is done. Learn from this experience, but don't agonize over it. Good Luck.
