Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Trumpets and Trombones Tacet in this movement? If so than that is about all of the instruments that have really evolved since Ravel's time. The French Horn has changed to make it easier for the player but the timbre is the same. The other movements include the evolved instruments and therefore we have to switch to the big gun to keep up. But now I wonder, was the Goldberg and Scmulye supposed to be played on picollo trumpet or somthing else?
