All I'm saying is anything written for the tuba shouldn't seem unplayable on the tuba. If it's been done once then it can be done again. Why use "tricks" like having to build a special horn just to play one excerpt? Work at it until you can play it on your horn. I only had a BBb tuba for many years and got to a point where I could play Bydlo wonderfully. Later in life when I could afford a smaller tuba I played it on that. But, having to build an E tuba sounds rediculous to me. And one final note, if in my orchestra the conductor askes the bass trombone player to play the part on euphonium I would take that as a slap in the face and get my A** in the practice room until there was no question I was the right person for the job.

If the ink is on the page and you have a tuba in your lap quit crying and play it!!
