Another device, similar in operation is a "Boa Constrictor"
It's a plumbing product available from some hardware and just about every plumbing store. It's main purpose is to undo stubborn/corroded tap fittings, without scratching or damaging the finish. Great for those jobs when a plumber doesn't want to have to replace gold plated fittings.
It works in the same manner as the strong boy, but is made from a thick rubber strap with a plastic handle.
After fighting with my stuck 3rd valve cap for a few months, I finally remembered that I had a Boa Constrictor and I thought, why not give it a try. I was dumbfounded at how easy and effortless it was!!!!!
I think they're about AU$20
