Bevelling the tuning slides is a tweaking activity. It only makes things better if you are solving an actual problem. This is especially true of the valve slides. If you bevel them all, then you may end up with the balance problem you started with. In the case of my York, we worked on the lower tuning slide on the first valve, which was damaged, and the tuning slide on the second valve. We didn't touch the two slides on the third valve or the fourth valve slide. And we only beveled the side of the slide that points upstream. Had we beveled them all, we might have gone too far, and we certainly would have ended up with differences remaining between the valves.
