Call up the stores. Wichita Band Instrument Company and the Brasswind both had used/demo Sovereigns in the low 2000's or even a bit less.
And don't ignore the Miraphone compensator. Some like them, others don't (the same could be said for Besson), and they can be found as demonstrators in your price range.
