That wasn't a total lie, but it wasn't the whole truth either. The St Petes that Frieder imported from Russia were all "raw" Russian. He then had a local (near Frieder's home) instrument builder install a German rotary system on some of them. Some he plated, some he lacquered, some he left raw brass, some he sold as they came from Russia. So, Vince's statement about a different model was true to the extent of the rotary system that he (Vince) has installed. I'm quite sure the basic horn is the same. Of course, Frieder got his supply in the mid 90's I believe, so there could have been some minor alterations after that. I have the last nickle plated model Frieder had, got it in July of '99. I really like it in spite of some of the flaming that some individuals engage in.
