Ron Bishop's primary orchestra horn was an Alexander from when he bought the horn in the late 1950's or early 1960's at the factory while on tour in Europe until just this past year. It's the horn that he is holding on the cover of the old Gabrieli CD, that he won all of his orchestra auditions on, and was also the first CC that he ever owned, I believe. It's not nearly as pretty as it was on the old Gabrieli cover, but it still sounds beautiful. He recently bought a MW2000 because he felt that it had just become too much of a hassle to control the pitch on the Alex. He had to use false fingerings and install a main-tuning-slide hemolator to adjust virtually every note, especially in the top octaves. I don't know if the Alex always played so funky, but I it finally got to the point that it bugged him enough that he bought another horn. I'm sure he'd never part with the Alex though.
