Not remembering the fellow's name, there is a very successful French horn maker who believes that distortions (angles) should be "gotten past" as quickly as possible so that as much of the instrument as possible can be straight. His instruments have quick sharp kinks and very straight tubing. Reports are that they are very free-blowing and in-tune instruments. Perhaps Farah Chisham knows who this manufacturer of hand-made horns is.
