I agree, it can be done, and I've heard it done, I just choose to spend my energy with other aspects of playing.

FYI: I've tried a BAT with a quintet for about 6 months and although satisfactory results were obtainable, I felt I was spending too much energy on trying not to stick out. I would like to think that my observations were not a result of my lack of talent but misplaced equipment. I think there's a reason why both Daellenbach, Pilafian et. al. use(d) smaller horns in their quintets.

My "blanket statements" were just opinions based on my experience and observations of horns typically used in quintets by players of exceedingly more talent than myself. Didn't mean to poo-poo your personal choice of horns.
