If you live in the LA area, there was a great tuba player by the name of George Bruns who used to play with the Firehouse 5 + 2 out at Disneyland through the early 60's. George was a cornet player who switched to tuba. He had a great feel and soloed like a madman. The little Eb you have is probably a good horn, I have played a few here in Vegas. It seemed to be the doublers instrument of choice back when they used more than a handful of live musicians on the Strip. Don hannah, arranger extrordanaire, played one along with a BBb Mirafone 184 along with the bass for years. I am sure someone can help you with the serial number. My guess is that the dear old lady you got this horn from is either Brun's daughter or daughter-in-law. Good luck and thanks for putting up with my obsequiesness.
