While digging through some on-line test reports for different computer sound cards (which tells everyone what I'm getting ready to buy), I ran across the following web site that contains a good, concise discussion of ear damage and the OSHA limits.
There were some assertions in the earlier discussion that ear damage was equal at all frequencies, but this page suggests that damage peaks at about 3 KHz, with substantially longer times and higher listening levels allowed for low frequencies.
